Shiatsu, is a kind of finger-pressure-massage.

About Contact and Shiatsu: This weekend we will dive into the work witch arises when we relate contact with shiatsu. In my own experience with contact and with shiatsu, in the past 13 years, there occured a dialog. In both touching art forms the body-mind-spirit gets constantly fed with informations. Contact is a dance, Shiatsu is a massage practice. In both cases I deal with touch. In Contact both partners are equal, both giving and taking. In Shiatsu the roles of giving and taking are divided. In Shiatsu you focus on developing the ability to touch in the "right way" . There are terms like: "How deep do I sink into the TSUBO (Akupessure-Point), how long do I stay, in witch rhythm do I work. Witch parts attract my consciousness, were do I want to give weight? From this point of view isn't Contact a continoues treatment in witch the movers get the touch they like to get? Or the other way around: don't I give a perfect treatment wile dancing contact and both partners have pleasure? Don't I fulfill an unspoken need within a contact-dance or a shiatsu treatment? The consciousness in both cases might not be the same but it is at least very similar. In a shiatsu treatment I am in a state of not wanting. There is no will, no aim, I fulfill my task through my moving presence. The other way around: In contact improvisation I had my most precious dances in this open state of mind. A dance ends when the exchange happened, when every thing has been "said", when the talk between the bodys has been completed.
In Shiatsu it feels very similar. There is a feeling as if a circle is beeing closed. It might be the energy circle witch builds the 12 Meridians. Then the energy flows fluidly and builds a hole. In contact we find a greater variety of qualities of touch than in Shiatsu. Here we can play with fluid or soft touch and also with surprising or pointed qualities.
This workshop is a laboratory to explore all kinds of qualities, up to pinching, grabbing or even scratching and biting?! Where are the limits, what is your way of dancing contact? How far do you allow yourself to go, are you willing to play with new qualities?

In adition to that there`s the question: what is contact? Is it a pure physical dance form? Is there space for emotions and sexual feelings? How do I draw the line, how do I show what I want and don`t want? Do I speak or what kind of tools do I use to express myself clearly? Do I manage to respect and communicate my boundaries in my daily life? In this laboratory we will explore saying "no" any time as a kind of "safetygear". Saying "no" allowes for a "yes" in the very next moment.
